Make-Up Policy
Makeups are sometimes unavoidable and we understand this. There will be one make-up opportunity per month for students missing class because of illness or family emergency. For the Downtown pool, this will be on the last Monday evening of every month at the same time as the regularly scheduled class. For Prevention Park, it will be the last Friday of every month. In order to attend this make-up opportunity, parents must contact Beth (502) 227-9637 ext. 102 by 5:00 two days before the class to be on the roster. We want to provide excellent instruction with the correct amount of teachers, and having this information before-hand will allow for proper preparation.

An extra make-up lesson will be provided as needed should the YMCA Aquatics Department cancel for the following reasons:

o   Severe Weather (thunder, lightning, tornado warning, snow/ice leading to school closure)

o   Pool mechanical failure

o   Multiple instructor illness or emergency

Meet Jane Sinnett; YMCA member and Adult Swim Lesson participant. Jane has experienced a "dreadful fear of the water" for decades, so Jane faced her fears head-on and enrolled in Adult Swim Lessons at the Y.

After a few weeks, Jane's confidence grew stronger and stronger. She overcame her fear of the water, and has even become an independent swimmer, not requiring assistance from an instructor! Jane has come a long way in her aquatic journey.

"I love the YMCA. The affordable lessons and knowledgeable instructors helped me accomplish a lifelong dream!"
