Community Safety Classes

Do you know what to do in the event of an emergency? 
Taking a community safety class at the Frankfort YMCA will teach you the skills necessary to recognize and respond to an emergency.  With the gained knowledge and confidence in your skills, you may be able to help save a life.  For further information about any of our Community Safety Classes, please contact

YMCA Lifeguard

American Red Cross Lifeguard
Members $190         Non-Members $225 
The American Red Cross Lifeguard course teaches participants the information and skills necessary to be a lifeguard at a swimming pool.  The ARC Lifeguard program includes lifeguarding, first aid, CPR, and AED.  Participants must attend all days to complete the course.  Must be 16 years old by the completion of the course.

YMCA Lifeguard
Members $185     Non-Members $210 
The YMCA Lifeguard course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard in pool, water park, and open water environments.  The YMCA Lifeguard training program focuses accident prevention, personal safety, patron safety, leadership and decision making skills as well as rescue skills. Upon completion of both physical and written assessments, participants will be certified in YMCA Lifeguard. Some classes will include segments on the prerequisites such as First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen administration.   Participants must be at least 16 years old by the last day of class.
