Frequently Asked Questions:
Do all your group classes charge a fee to attend?
No, the majority of our fitness classes are included with your membership.  You can attend any class listed on the fitness schedule if you are a YMCA member.  Pick up a Fitness Schedule Brochure for all times and a short description of each class.  Determine what class you want to try and be present at the time provided on the schedule. 
 
What types of classes do you offer at the YMCA?
We offer all types of classes at both facilities.  We have land based and water based classes so no matter what your interest is we should have a class to suit you.  Just a few of our group exercise classes include Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Step, Cycling, Fit Boxing, Aquatic Fitness including Deep Water, Shallow Water and Arthritis Plus.  See the Fitness Schedule Brochure for a complete list of classes including a brief description of each class.
 
Do you have any classes for active older adults?
Yes, we offer many classes that would be suitable for older adults.  If you have problems with arthritis, try one of our many aqua classes.  You can receive a great workout without the pounding of weight bearing exercise.  There will be a certified aqua instructor and lifeguard on duty during aqua classes for your safety.  Flexibility is crucial to maintain as you age and yoga is a great choice when trying to stay flexible.
 
Does the YMCA have personal training?
Yes, personal training is available at both locations.  Our trainers work with athletes, youth, older adults or just the basic health seeker looking for a healthier lifestyle.  You will receive personal instruction on what exercises to do and how to perform them safely.  Let one of our certified trainers help you reach all your health goals.
 
How do I obtain a Personal Trainer?
You will need to see or call Dan Spicer, Health and Wellness Director to schedule an appointment. 502-875-9276, ext. 105.
 
Are your trainers certified?
Your safety is paramount while receiving instruction from our trainers at the YMCA so all of our Personal Trainers are certified by a national organization.
 
How much is personal training?
You have a few options when purchasing personal training at the YMCA.  You can buy one session for $30 or purchase a package of five training sessions for $135.  Partner training is $40 per session
 
What is GFT?
GFT (Group Fitness Training) is a program offered through the Frankfort YMCA consisting of a small group of members receiving exercise and nutrition instruction from one of our certified fitness trainers.  GFT is designed to take all the guesswork out of training for you.  We will have your exercises ready for you and provide motivation and supervision.  You will also receive a detailed meal plan plus a food journal to keep track of your meals.  GFT consists of strength training and cardiovascular training in a class format.  You will receive a fitness assessment before and after the GFT program to see how much you improved over the course of the class.
 
Is GFT for me?
GFT is for anyone wanting to reach and even surpass their fitness goals.  Regardless if you are a beginner or have been working out for years, GFT can benefit you.  If you want to see and feel results sign up for GFT today!
 
When and where is GFT offered?
GFT is offered every 12 weeks exclusively at the Prevention Park location.  Check the Program Guide for upcoming dates.   The class runs for 12 weeks and meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 1 hour of fat blasting exercise each day.
 
How much does GFT cost?
Members will pay $235 for 12 weeks while non-members will pay $400 for 12 weeks.  Past GFT member participants will only pay $185 for 12 weeks.  That is 36 sessions for only $235!  
What is Fit In Four?
Great for beginners, Fit In Four is a strength training class that last for 4 weeks. If you have any questions about what you should do to get started on your road to a healthier life this class is for you.  You will receive a pre and post program fitness assessment.  The class is led by one of our certified fitness instructors to ensure you a productive yet safe workout. 
 
Is Fit In Four for me?
If you are a beginner and want to receive a result producing workout, Fit in Four is a great option.  You will learn how to safely use all the strength training equipment and be motivated and supervised by one of our certified fitness trainers.  Our main goal is to help you become comfortable using the strength training equipment while at the same time ensuring your safety. 
 
When and where is Fit In Four offered?
Fit In Four is offered every 4 weeks at both locations.  Fit In Four meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 1 hour.  Check the program guide for upcoming dates and times. Feel free to sign up for which time and location is convenient for you.
 
How much does Fit In Four cost?
Members will pay $52 for 4 weeks while non-members will pay $130 for 4 weeks.  That is 8 sessions for only $52!
